With the fourth transnational call "Multidisciplinary Research Projects on Personalised Medicine - Development of Clinical Support Tools for Personalised Medicine Implementation", ERAPerMed funds research and innovation activities that establish close links between clinical research, computer science/medical informatics and research on ethical, legal and social aspects in the field of personalised medicine.

The EU has come closer to adopting its next multiannual framework programme for research and innovation. The German presidency of the Council today reached a provisional political agreement with the European Parliament's negotiators on the proposed regulation establishing Horizon Europe, the EU framework programme for research and innovation for the years 2021 to 2027.

UAS4EUROPE, the network of European Universities of Applied Sciences (UAS), welcomes the Hochschulen für Angewandte Wissenschaften Baden-Württemberg e.V. (HAW BW e.V.; Universities of Applied Sciences Baden-Württemberg, Germany) as a new member. Jean-Eric Paquet, Director-General of Research and Innovation at the European Commission, also attended the last meeting of the presidents of UAS4EUROPE members on 10 November 2020, highlighting the important role of UAS in the European Research Area.

With the European Green Deal (EGD), Europe aims to become the world's first climate-neutral continent by 2050. To this end, in 2020 and 2021, the European Commission will present numerous further measures for a comprehensive growth strategy of a climate-neutral and resource-efficient European economy, which will be cost-effective and socially balanced at the same time. From 27 – 28 October 2020, the Digital Conference on Industrial Technologies 2020 will take place. It will offer participants the opportunity to join a platform for stakeholders from research organisations, industry and policy-making to discuss future trends, technological challenges and the further steps required in order to shape and strengthen future European industrial and research policy in the field of key enabling technologies such as nanotechnologies, advanced materials, biotechnology and advanced manufacturing under the considerations of socially fair transition to a sustainable and green economy.

Since the beginning of July 2020, the Bavarian Research Alliance (BayFOR) has been home to a new Scientific Coordination Office (WKS) which has been tasked with strengthening scientific and technical cooperation between Bavaria and Africa.

Since 15 June 2020, the Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA) has been managing a part of the Innovation Fund programme via grants.
