The ‘Innovative Advanced Materials Initiative’ (IAM-I) has published the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) for the European partnership ‘Innovative Advanced Materials for Europe’ (IAM4EU). This ground-breaking initiative aims to help shape EU policy on innovative materials and accelerate the uptake of sustainable advanced materials in Europe.

IAM4EU: Europe's innovation engine for advanced materials

The aim of IAM4EU is clear: to build a cross-sectoral, multidisciplinary research and innovation ecosystem across Europe. This network will drive the development and market uptake of sustainable innovative materials (IAMs) and related technologies - essential for a digital and circular economy.

The key activities of IAM-I:

  • Creating a dynamic research and innovation agenda - focusing on resilient, circular materials value chains and innovative technologies.
  • Working with institutions and companies to define strategic intervention areas.
  • Establishing a pan-European cooperation centre for IAM stakeholders.
  • Promote sustainable materials as a key factor for economic and environmental transformation.
  • Define education and training activities to strengthen Europe's competitiveness and technological sovereignty in the field of advanced materials.
