INCiTiS-FOOD Open Call: EU project seeks local innovation hubs for sustainable agri-food technologies in Africa
Why INCiTiS-FOOD?
The project promotes innovative agricultural practices in urban and peri-urban areas. The focus is on resource-efficient, circular approaches such as hydroponics, aquaponics and insect farming. These technologies use little space, reduce waste and can still produce large quantities of food - a sustainable answer to the growing urban population.
How to apply: Who can participate?
This call is open to small consortia of two to three organisations. These include civil society organisations (CSOs), NGOs, cooperatives, universities, start-ups and SMEs. We are looking for innovative solutions in areas such as
- Aquaponics & aquaculture - closed-loop fish and plant farming.
- Hydroponics & bioponics - soilless growing methods with low water consumption.
- Insect farming - a sustainable source of protein for humans and animals.
- Alternative ideas - from urban waste recycling to snail and rabbit farming.
Deadline for applications: 20 March 2025
All applications must be submitted in English via the INCiTiS-FOOD Open Call Hub by 20 March 2025, 17:00 CET. Each consortium can only submit one application. All projects must be completed within 12 months. Further information can be found here.
