B4 Modeling of inhomogeneously premixed turbulent flames with large eddy
The goal of this project is the implementation and validation of computationally efficient LES-models of strongly turbulent, inhomogeneously premixed lean flames; a regime of combustion which is of particular importance for diverse technical applications. It is a chief objective to quantitatively describe the extent of fuel/air mixture inhomogeneities, because even small inhomogeneities strongly impact on important design factors such as NOx emissions and combustion stability.
