B2 Numerical Simulation of Turbulent Mixture Formation with Liquid Fuel Injection
This project is focused on turbulent mixture formation with liquid fuel injection. An efficient numerical scheme to handle spray evaporation and turbulent mixing is needed and will be developed. Within this numerical framework, the continuous phase is treated in an Eulerian reference frame, the liquid (disperse) phase is tracked in a Lagrangian frame. As the modeling of the continuous phase is based on LES, the interaction between turbulence, droplet kinematics and evaporation promises to be described more precisely compared with the widely used RANS-modeling.
