A3 Space- and time-resolved measurements in turbulent flames
The aim of this project is the development of novel measurement techniques with high temporal and spatial resolution for turbulent reacting flows. Established methods like planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) provide only statistical information about turbulent fluctuations. Employing lasers with high pulse rates and a special purpose high speed camera, it is planed to extend this technique such that it is possible to generate real-time movies of turbulent flames. Exploratory studies of holographic digital particle image velocimetry (HDPIV) are also planned.
