BionOptik II
Field of work:
Focus: Intelligent, resource-efficient systemshttps://baybionik.de/teilprojekte/p7-bionoptik-ii/
The project "BionOptics - Bionic high-tech materials for optical applications" comprises the two subprojects of the University of Bayreuth (BionOptik I) and the Technical University of Munich (BionOptik II). The aim of the project is the production of biologically-inspired "fiber optic cables" made of the biological materials cellulose and spider silk.
The BionOptik II project is working on cellulose particles that are to act as optical conductors. This involves the production of novel optical fiber architectures from environmentally friendly, non-toxic and biodegradable substances.
