Cluster II: Micro-robotic Systems
Using vitreoretinal surgery as an application example, the cluster addresses the challenges associated with robot-assisted surgery in this area, such as very high precision and low forces at the same time. Possible application scenarios, such as "subretinal injections" and the treatment of "retinal vein occlusions", are defined in the requirements analysis. Within this, the exact requirements for the micro-robotic system can be defined. The workflows of the application scenarios to be considered are formalized so that an integration of the micro-robotic system into the surgical process can take place and parts can be automated in collaboration with the workgroup KLI or made more intuitive with the work group EUI. The focus of the cluster is on optimizing the positioning of the micro-robotic system in the OR and the robotic execution of the procedure (or parts of it) to increase and ensure safety and effectiveness for the patient and surgeon.
