The aim of the working group Context is to determine the current state of application of digital engineering methods in the field of powertrain development of the participating companies of the network. Based on this actual state, recommendations will be derived to support the partners involved in the implementation of digital engineering methods.

The participating subprojects SP 3, SP 4, SP 5 and SP 7 work together on an innovative development methodology with the help of digital engineering tools, as well as the implementation using the example of an electric vehicle. A test bench demonstrator will be set up for the extended investigation and validation of the development methodology.

SP 4 records the actual state by means of expert interviews with the participating industrial partners and documents the current status of powertrain development. Based on this, the digitalization potential will be recorded, a development methodology will be defined, and a pilot process will be set up using the powertrain of electric vehicles as an example. The development and validation are carried out with modern methods of digital engineering in the form of software tools provided by industrial partners, among others. The possibilities of digital engineering are documented, and their limits are transferred as an interface to SP 3.

Aim of SP 3 is the development of a modular kit for test benches for electric powertrain investigations with special focus on the transmission. Special attention will be paid both to the use of innovative methods from the field of digital engineering and to the optimal integration of test bench investigations into the digital development process. The aim is a systematic implementation support of digital engineering for small and medium-sized companies and the development of a methodology for the design of innovative drive systems and components.

The aim of the working group Context is the successful implementation of the pilot process and the test bench kit, as well as a successful know-how transfer into industrial practice.
