The WKS Bavaria-Québec/Alberta/International at BayFOR regularly invites guests to a virtual dialog on current topics of the international research cooperation between its partner regions.

In times of COVID19, scientific networking missions could hardly be carried out. The Scientific Coordination Office (WKS) Bavaria-Québec/Alberta/International at BayFOR therefore launched a new platform, the virtual “Science Café”, which maintained the dialog on current topics of research cooperation between its partner regions.

The virtual Science cafés will remain active in 2025.

In the Science Cafés, researchers, research and innovation administrators, business and governmental representatives discuss their project work, challenges in international research cooperation, progress in the projects, thematic priorities and new perspectives.

The Science Cafés welcome new guest speakers each time, who give a presentation outlining their research interests and experiences and then exchange ideas with the audience. The Science Cafés are short and recurrent by intention. They want to enable regular contact in a small format and support interpersonal, stimulating dialog – again and again.

"Our friends at Bavarian Research Alliance (BayFOR) GmbH initiated the #Forschungscafé, a regular opportunity for small groups of scientists to meet virtually and discuss ideas, challenges and opportunities in an informal setting. […] I have been a guest myself 3 times and can attest that it is not only insightful and informative, but also great fun!"

Science Café "Technology Trend Scouting Canada and Cooperation Opportunities" on January 23, 2025

For our first Forschungscafé of 2025, we are pleased to welcome Nico Goller, Project Manager, Innovation Management at Bayern Innovativ. Nico Goller will present the results of an extensive technology trend scouting conducted along Canadian high technology sectors. Beyond the trends and strengths of the Canadian ecosystem, Nico Goller will share insights on the scouting exercise itself, and feature the cooperation opportunities that arise for Bavarian companies and researchers.

Here you can find the Science Café program.
