BMBF-Project Funding: "Causes and Dynamics of current anti-Semitism" (Deadline: February 14, 2025)

The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is funding research projects on current challenges of anti-Semitism, particularly with regard to developments since October 7, 2023.

Since 2021, the BMBF has been funding ten research networks in the field of anti-Semitism research as part of its program for the humanities and social sciences “Understanding Society - Shaping the Future (2019 to 2025)”. This funding program aims to further deepen the knowledge base and understanding of anti-Semitism in its current form and to make Jewish life more visible and support it.

The BMBF's primary aim with this funding measure is to ensure that politics and society are able to appropriately counter the development of Israel-related anti-Semitism on the basis of scientific findings and to push it back. In addition, anti-Semitism research is to be more firmly anchored at universities and non-university research institutions. In coordination with the European Union's “EU Strategy on combating antisemitism and fostering Jewish life”; the aim is to make a structural contribution to the networking of antisemitism research in Germany and Europe.
