GV 6 Dynamics of Premixed Flames
A precondition for the analysis of thermo-acoustic combustion instabilities in gas turbine combustion chambers is the knowledge of the frequency response of a flame or of the transfer matrix of a burner respectively. Using system identification methods, these quantities can be derived from transient CFD calculations. The aim of this project is the comprehensive validation of this method and the further development up to the description of circumferential modes in annular combustors. This should make it possible to evaluate the stability of a combustion system early in the design process.
