With Oettingen-Wallerstein, the German Research Association (DFG) promotes the development of a distributed system for efficient information retrieval in the historical "Oettingen-Wallerstein" library. A comfortable fulltext search is supplemented by the presentation of scanned document pages. Optical storage devices handle the huge data volumes. The system´s WAN interface guarantees world wide availability.

Application:
Since project end in January 1995, the system is continuously on the net. Many users, e.g., historians, from all over the world use it.
