Traffic- and Transportation Management
The focus of FORVERTS is in the area of Traffic Management, which is understood as the setup, organization and control of a traffic system with the goal of continuous, durable functioning, economic and environmental soundness of the system as a whole.
Traffic Management offers solutions for many problems caused by the continuous rising mobility of people and goods. As this mobility must be maintained and secured with limited resources for all forms of traffic, Traffic Managemet involves:
- inner city traffic and traffic in metropolitan areas, especially during rush hours
- economic traffic in metropolitan areas
- shopping and leisure traffic
- vacation traffic
- interregional and national goods traffic.
The environmental and social impacts of traffic problems are, among others, traffic jams, noise, decreasing attractivity of city centers and recreation areas. Financial restrictions in public transport limit the mobility of households without an own car. Firms lose productivity due to delays caused by traffic problems.
The variety of possible solutions is as large as the problems. The task FORVERTS has chosen ist to solve traffic and transportation problems in cities, regions and between regions in innovative ways.
