RESEARCH NETWORK FOR INFECTOGENOMICS

Logo Research Association FORINGEN

Diagnostics and Therapeutics

One main focus of the cooperation network lies upon the development of faster and more specific diagnostic methods. An early and reliable identification of the infectious agent is a prerequisite to estimate its pathogentic potential and to initiate an effective therapy. Additionally, the scientists of FORINGEN work to establish novel testing methods for antibiotics and to develop alternative therapeutic strategies. Thereby FORINGEN concentrates on pathogenic bacteria of the intestine, staphylococci (severe infections of wounds and sepsis, food poisoning), borrelia (Lyme disease), pseudomonas infections (chronic pneumonia in cystic fibrosis patients), Helicobacter pylori (gastritis, peptic ulcer) and HIV (AIDS)
