FAMILY LIFE IN BAVARIA - EMPIRICAL INSIGHTS INTO TRANSFORMATIONS, RESOURCES AND NEGOTIATIONS
Workshop for managers of interdisciplinary research projects and networks
Inter- and transdisciplinary research was developed as a research mode that is suitable for addressing so-called poorly structured problems - such as climate change or biodiversity loss - and developing solutions for them, e.g. in the areas of health, mobility, housing or nutrition. The funding format of the Bavarian Research Network also focuses on interdisciplinary cooperation and a strong practical orientation. This means that the network management faces two types of organizational challenges: Both in the network itself with various partners and in the context of the actors, there is no hierarchy that helps to make quick decisions in the research process, prevent conflicts or promote knowledge integration.
This workshop introduces 'lateral leadership', i.e. leadership without formal authority, as an approach with which collaborative managers can develop and reflect on a specific attitude and adapted procedures for the design and coordination of the joint research process.
Main topics of the workshop:
- How can decision-making and decision-making succeed under these conditions?
- What procedures, processes and attitudes are needed in management to make a comprehensive and effective contribution to sustainable decisions and successful knowledge integration?
