| SWITCH – Stabilizing weak grids through machine learning
The
SWITCH project is led by the Institute of new Energy Systems (InES) of
the Technical University of Applied Sciences Ingolstadt (Bavaria,
Germany) in close collaboration with their project partners in Algeria,
Germany, Italy and Morrocco with funds through the EU LEAP-RE project.
Rising global electricity demand has long outpaced generation and
transmission capacities, posing technical and economic challenges in
regions like North Africa. The interdisciplinary SWITCH project team
will investigate solutions to improve power supply in Morocco and
Algeria's "end-of-line" communities, which often experience outages.
Their approach includes integrating smart renewable energy systems,
AI-based forecasting in artificial neural networks, and optimal agri-PV
(agricultural photovoltaic) solutions for local islanding.More information | | |
