Project in the Spotlight

In each newsletter issue, we present a research or innovation project from our Stakeholder Map with Bavarian and African participation.

Access to medical assistance: optimising the ambulance system for managing rescue operations

This project is led by the Technical University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt (Bavaria, Germany) in close collaboration with the Ghanaian partners Cape Coast Technical University and KAAF University College. The project is funded through the ASA programme, managed by Engagement Global gGbmH through the BMZ. Together, the project partners are organising capacities for rescue missions for women and children near the Ghanaian capital Accra to combat the high maternal and infant mortality rate. The deployment plans and routes of the ambulances are planned and coordinated from a local control centre using software already developed in the project. Students contribute and develop personal skills in this project and support organisations in collecting and analysing geodata in order to optimise the software and operations.
