Artificial intelligence affects almost all areas of our daily lives today. Research at the interface of artificial intelligence, humanities and social sciences is a highly dynamic and nowadays inevitable field. Big data and machine learning have the capacity to revolutionize research about humans, their social formations, and their cultural practices, while research in the “soft” sciences is fundamental for understanding the potential consequences of changes imposed by technological advances.

On 29 November 2022, the Scientific Coordination Office Bavaria-Israel of the Bavarian-Research Alliance (BayFOR), the „Israel-Europe R&I Directorate“ (ISERD), the Franco-Bavarian University cooperation center (BayFRANCE) and the Embassy of France in Germany organize a joint symposium on upcoming calls of the EU Mission “Climate neutral and Smart Cities”.

As a joint initiative, the German Embassy in Israel, the State of Bavaria’s Office in Israel and the Scientific Coordination Office Bavaria-Israel of the Bavarian Research Alliance (BayFOR) will hold an Online Expert Discussion on “Adaptation to Climate Change and the Role of Research and Innovation: How to strengthen Climate Resilience in Israel and the EU” on 20 October 2022.

The international symposium on May 2, 2022 focusses on four selected calls from the field of Energy (Cluster 5) of the current EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation "Horizon Europe". The event invites Bavarian, Israeli and other European stakeholders from research, industry and other fields to explore new cooperation and network opportunities.

The international symposium on October 19, 2021 focus on on four selected calls from Cluster 2 "Culture, creativity and inclusive society" of the current EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation "Horizon Europe". The event invites Bavarian, Israeli and British stakeholders from research, industry and other fields to explore new cooperation and network opportunities.

As a joint initiative, the German Embassy in Israel, the State of Bavaria’s Office in Israel and the Scientific Coordination Office Bavaria-Israel of the Bavarian Research Alliance (BayFOR) are holding an Online Expert Discussion on “Climate-neutral and Smart cities and the Role of Research and Innovation: Munich and Tel Aviv” on 29 June 2021 at 10:00 (CET). The event focuses on the proposed EU Mission “100 Climate-Neutral Cities by 2030 - by and for the citizens” and presents different perspectives to shed light on the specific chances and challenges in the field of research. The event is organized by the State of Bavaria's Office in Israel.

The international symposium on “Climate Change and Social Science” on July 8, 2021 invites Bavarian, Israeli and other European stakeholders from research, industry and other fields to explore new cooperation and network opportunities by focusing on four specific topics from the new EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation "Horizon Europe" (Cluster 5, Destination 1) mentioned below. The event is organized by experts of the Scientific Coordination Office Bavaria-Israel of the Bavarian Research Alliance (BayFOR) and the Israel-Europe R&D Directorate (ISERD).

On 27 April 2021, the first Bavarian-Israeli Round Table on Hydrogen took place, during which eight Bavarian and Israeli representatives from the fields of research and development presented the latest trends and current topics in the field of hydrogen. 

On 16 September 2020, the Scientific Coordination Office (WKS) Bavaria-Israel, together with the Israel-Europe R&D Directorate (ISERD), the Bavarian-French University Centre (BayFrance) and the Science Department of the French Embassy, will host the 5th Bavaria-Israel Symposium in the form of a trilateral seminar.

Together with the German Embassy in Israel and the Office of the Free State of Bavaria in Israel, the Scientific Coordination Office (WKS) Bavaria-Israel of the Bavarian Research Alliance (BayFOR) is organising an expert discussion on 15 September 2020 to discuss the special opportunities and challenges of the EU Green Deal Call from different perspectives.
